Portuguese Day celebrated in school on 2nd September 2024

The Rosary High School, Cujira Bambolim, celebrated Portuguese Day on September 2, 2024. The event was graced by the presence of chief guest Dr. Paulo George da Silva Gomes, Director of Fundação Oriente.

The celebration included a captivating band performance featuring nostalgic Portuguese instrumentals. A highlight of the event was a humorous and well-acted enactment of the Portuguese legend, “Galo de Barcelos.” Students also showcased a vibrant fashion show reflecting different styles from Portugal, particularly capturing the spirit of Carnival, with an accompanying array of culinary delicacies of Portugal. A soulful solo Fado performance added a touch of emotional depth to the event, along with another splendid rendition of Portuguese song. The entire program was elegantly hosted in Portuguese by students Jenson D’Costa and Caitlyn Gomes.

Dr. Paulo Gomes, in his speech, praised the efforts of the management, students, and their Portuguese teacher. He emphasized the importance of blending cultures and fostering a collaborative spirit.
The event was organised by the Portuguese teacher, Ms. Sharmila H Martins.
